The best, exclusively local raw materials make the Freistadt beers so unique in taste. Preservatives are taboo. With eleven different types of beer with well-known names such as Ratsherrn Premium, Rotschopf or Pegasus, there is something for every taste.
The brewing commune in Freistadt can look back on a long tradition: “regional gold” has been brewed in the heart of the Mühlviertel since 1777. Last year around 60,000 hectoliters of beer and 15,000 hectoliters of lemonade were produced. The brewing commune is also prepared for the future: around 10 million euros will be invested in the conversion of the brewery by the time of the state exhibition in 2013. The new brewhouse in the impressive cathedral of the old brewery from the 18th century is just one of the planned projects.
