In the summer of 1985, a small group forming the Citizen Committee of St-Honoré mobilized the population against the project of the MRC FJORD SAGUENAY to open a site in St-Honore to bury the waste of the entire population of the Haut-Saguenay, RCM which then gathered about 170 000 inhabitants. This Citizens Committee, led by a population determined to fight to protect its water table and source of its exceptional drinking water, will take more than 10 years to finally win a decisive and memorable victory against an announced ecological disaster. The name of the Committee, St-H2O, was, at the time, a wink in the name of the municipality (St-Honore) as well as the chemical formula of water (H2O), the water being at the heart of this slice of the city’s history and also at the heart of our beer making. So we are happy and proud today to offer you our blonde called La Sainte-H2O thus referring to the pure water that we have saved.
