Welcome to our website, where we want to give you an insight into our small family business.
For 100 years, the Hitzer small distillery in Neidlingen has been processing its own fruit products from local orchards into fine brandies and liqueurs.
Our family has something to do all year round, be it in the distillery or outside in our own orchards.
In spring the trees are cut, new trees are planted and the meadows are cared for.
Soon after, the cherry blossoms begin.
The big cherry season begins at the end of June, during which we spend at least 4 weeks on the ladders every year.
The table cherries (varieties such as Baronen, Schneiders, Büttners, Braune Knorpel, Oktavia, Regina…) are sold fresh as table cherries on the premises. The schnapps cherries (varieties such as Remstäler, Neidlinger Eichele, Dollenseppler, Benjamin…) are mashed into barrels to be distilled in winter.
After the harvest, we celebrate the “Kirschenhenke” with all the helpers as a thank you.
The harvest of apples, pears, plums, mirabelle plums and nuts follows in autumn.
This fruit is also either sold fresh on the premises or mashed for distillation in the winter.
Every year on September 21st, the traditional plum market takes place in Neidlingen and the plum festival takes place on the following Sunday. We have a sales stand there.
The distillery works on Saturdays throughout the winter, which means distilling takes place.
