Waldhaus private brewery – that’s more than 190 years and four generations of family and brewing tradition. As on the first day, we maintain the philosophy of our brewery founder Johann Schmid: smaller – but finer.

This means that we still hold the reins in our own hands. The satisfaction and wishes of our customers determine our actions – not share prices and boards of directors. As a private brewery, we preserve our tradition as well as looking forward.

Like our ancestors, we see ourselves primarily as producers of finely hopped beer specialties. At the same time, we are employers, environmentalists and promoters of the regional economy. We feel personally committed to our large Black Forest family and our environment. Because tradition doesn’t just have something to do with age. It also means acting responsibly and forward-looking in accordance with your own values.

We know that we are at least as dependent on our region as they are on us. As a regional family brewery, it is our duty to treat our environment in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park with care. We produce our beers exclusively with natural electricity. The 100% renewable electricity is mainly produced in the hydroelectric power plants on the High Rhine and in the Black Forest. We have also installed a photovoltaic system on the roof of our logistics center with an output of 458.4 kWp (kilowatt peak), of which we use 75% of the electricity generated ourselves. At the same time, we only use natural ingredients for our products, strictly in accordance with the Purity Law of 1516.

But our company’s greatest asset has always been our employees. Because they are the ones who make Waldhaus a little better every day. We are proud of that and we are grateful for it. We therefore always want to be a fair and reliable partner to all of you.

And the continued existence of our Waldhaus private brewery has long been planned. Janina and Yannik Schmid, the children of our managing director Dieter Schmid, are the fifth Waldhaus generation and the youngest members of our large Waldhaus family. The two of them already know where they want to work later: in Dad’s brewery!
