Germanys whisky history is not as recent as people believe: The Schraml family is destilling oak-aged grain destillates since 1818. Their products were mostly sold as brandys at that time until Florian Stetter in 1994 created the idea of distilling scotish-style whisky in Bavaria. Since 2009 the whisky production is implemented at Schraml Distilley (Steinwaelder Hausbrennerei Schraml).
