Since 1873 we have been perfecting the top-fermented brewing technology typical of Düsseldorf. You know the success. Because despite the most modern technology, there is always someone behind our beer who personally vouches for the taste of this exceptional Altbier. With us you are still human. And you can taste it too. But experience for yourself how hops, malt and water create a beer that is second to none.
In 1873, master brewer Heinrich Frankenheim founded his private brewery in the center of Düsseldorf and soon conquered the tastes and hearts of many Rhinelanders with his “Frankenheim Obergärig”. The brewery bar on Düsseldorf’s Wielandstrasse is reminiscent of traditional history.
In 1992, one of the most modern breweries in the world was built with the new production facility in Neuss-Holzheim.
In 2000, Altbier and Cola were mixed to form a new mixed drink: Frankenheim Blue met the taste of many young consumers and soon became the market leader for Altbier-Cola mixed drinks.
In 2001, FRANKENHEIM went all the way and exceeded half a million hectoliters of annual output for the first time. While the beer market is declining everywhere, the Altbier specialist is achieving double-digit growth and becoming the fastest-growing brewery in the country.

From new to old The connoisseur knows: Old is not the same as OLD. Because as usual, it depends on what you have on the pan. And only the best that nature has to offer goes into the brewing pans: bought from addresses that have been tried and tested for generations. Handshake counts. Trust against trust: not just any hops, but very high quality. Malt from high-quality spring barley. Specially processed, it gives it its inimitable golden brown color. Plus noble yeast from our own, preferred cultures. And of course excellent brewing water. Everything together ensures that extraordinary taste.
