Bischoff Wilhelm Brauerei
As documented finds prove, the Weilerhof farm area has been inhabited since Roman times. In addition to several small farms – hence the name Weilerhof – the manor house of the landowner Godescalcus de Wilre was located here at the beginning of the 14th century.
Immediately after 1300, the Carthusians gradually bought up the entire area. After secularization, ownership of the farm changed several times until the current owner’s grandfather acquired the farm site at the beginning of the last century and completely rebuilt the farm.
The Weilerhof, located on the city limits of Brühl-Vochem – the farm’s garden is already in the Brühl area – came to the Hürth mayor’s office with Fischenich in 1802.
Due to considerable technical progress, parts of the Weilerhof building became vacant in the 1950s and 1960s, so that the father of the current owner decided in the early 1960s to integrate a brewery into the vacant parts, which was fundamentally renovated in 1996.
The right to use the name Kölsch comes from the Kölsch Convention, which granted grandfathering rights to breweries that produced Kölsch before 1984.
