Inspired by Kunz von der Rosen (1470–1519), the bold advisor and court jester of Emperor Maximilian I, we brew beers beyond conventions and boundaries.
Wendelin started as a Gypsy Brewer in 2014, and since 2017 we, now a team of eight, have had our own brewery with a 15hl brewhouse. In the historic ambience of the old pipe warehouse in Mainz, we work creatively – from grinding to bottling, everything is in our hands. We work with the best ingredients, preferably regional, for example malt, but also from areas of the world that produce the highest quality raw materials, such as some types of hops or various spices.
We feel called to bold deeds. Because only those who are bold dare to feel, think and act beyond conventions and boundaries.
In everything we do, we are inspired by the life of KUNZ von der ROSEN (1470–1519).
As a bold advisor and court jester, he worked with a lot of wit and intelligence at the court of Emperor Maximilian I – at the time when the Purity Law was brought into being. To the emperor, at his court and far beyond, he was known as a dazzling personality, ready to break new ground and accomplish bold deeds.
