Old Jameson (Bow Street) Distillery
The Old Jameson Distillery is the original site where Jameson Irish Whiskey was distilled until 1971. Today the location is remodeled into a tourist attraction with tasting room, restaurant and shop. The original distillery was called Bow Street Distillery (John Jameson & Son) dating back to 1780. It is one of the oldest distilleries in Ireland. John Jameson, who bought later the distillery, was originally from Scotland and married to a well known distilling family in Scotland of its time. In 1971 the distillery itself closed and was one of the last remaining distilleries in Ireland at that time. Their operation was moved to New Midleton Distillery.
