Hakushu Distillery
The Hakushu Distillery was founded in 1973 by Suntory. It is located in the Japanese Southern Alps and is nicknamed the “forest distillery”. It is among the highest malt distilleries in the world with 700 meters above sea level. At its time it was one of the largest distilleries in the world. Hakushu west is no longer active, production was moved to the new larger Hakushu east location in 1981.
