The company was founded by John Dumvill who rebranded his company to Dunville in 1825. In 1837 he added the production of blended whiskey and build the Royal Irish Distilleries in 1869. The Belfast Distillery is transforming the Victorian jail of Belfast into a 480,000-litre distillery, construction of the site is expected to complete in 2016.
