Nestled deep in the beautiful Spey valley sits the Ballindalloch Estate, home to the Macpherson-Grant family since 1546.
Throughout the generations, the Estate has continued to evolve and in early 2012, the family decided the time was right to build a distillery. Following nearly 3 years of planning, restoration and repair, the farm steading at Lagmore has been transformed into Ballindalloch Distillery.
This marks the return to distilling for the Macpherson-Grant family following the heavy involvement of Sir George Macpherson-Grant in a number of distilleries in the 19th century. Indeed, we have adopted a traditional approach to our distillery that Sir George would recognise. The barley is grown on our own farm, we make our spirit in a non automated distillery and mature our whisky on the Estate, the draff is fed to cattle on the Estate and our liquid by products fertilise our fields.
We rely on the skill, experience and expertise of Colin, Ian, David and Archie to craft the finest whisky they can. Whisky made by people,not computers.
