Co-workers. Neighbors. Beer-lovers. All of these things are true of Keefe Pietri and George Garrison, owners and brewers at Heady Hollow Brewing Company, the first official micro-brewery to open in Fishers. It all started with a trip Keefe took to the Sam Adams Brewery in Boston in 2008, where he realized his previous disdain for beer was not a fault of beer in general, but specifically of the type of beer he’d consumed in college. He brought home with him a desire to make his own craft beer and went about learning the trade in his home kitchen; some of this brew he brought into work to share with fellow beer-lovers. One of these beer-lovers was George Garrison. And thus their joint venture into learning and experimenting with craft beer began, spanning many weekends and countless beer bottles. Soon their time was spent not just creating new craft beer recipes (George is the hop-head and Keefe the malt-lover), but discussing their hopes of opening a neighborhood micro-brewery with ties
